Glasses frames generally have four basic measurements (in millimeters) listed in the following order: eye, bridge, temple, vertical

Example: "54-20-145-30"

Prescription Glasses Size Guide

 

Eye Size (Lens Width):  The horizontal width in millimeters of one of the frame's lenses
Bridge Width: The distance in millimeters between the two lenses
Temple Length: The length of the arm piece (or temple), from the end to the hinge
Lens Height (Verticle B): The vertical height of an eyeglasses lens. The Vertical B measurement is relevent when ordering progressive lenses

Each size is based on the lens width measurement of the eyeglass or sunglass style. This is always the first number on your prescription (see our above example for clarification). Below, we have grouped each style into one of three sizes; Narrow, Average and Wide.

Glasses Frame Measurement Guide

Many prescription frames will have their measurements inscribed on the inside of the arm piece or behind the nose bridge area (if they're not worn off). 

 

For example, the glasses shown to the left have the measurements, "54-20-145", which indicates an eye size (lens width) of 54 mm, bridge width of 20mm and temple length of 145mm.
